Implementation of Cargo Receiving Date Application for All Trade Exports from Europe and Africa (Effective 1st September)

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your continued support and for choosing Ocean Network Express (ONE) to cater to your needs.

Effective 1 September 2026, the Cargo Receiving Date application will be implemented for all export shipments originating from Europe and Africa.

This enhancement provides greater rate certainty and consistency by applying freight rates based on the cargo gate-in date, helping reduce the impact of vessel schedule changes.

Scope & Impacted Countries
This applies to both basic ocean freight (OFT) and all associated surcharges, including local charges.

1. Shipments freighted based on “Cargo receiving date”

Applicable area:

  • Import and export shipments for the United States, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands (FMC regulated trades).
  • Import and export shipments for Canada.
  • Import and export shipments under the intra-Latin America East Coast scope.
  • Export shipments from India and Pakistan.
  • Export shipments originating from the countries listed in Table A below (newly added applicable countries).

Shift in Pricing Application

  • New Logic: The Gate-in Date (physical container arrival date at origin terminal or inland depot) for CY and the Actual laden container pick-up date at the factory/facility based on the Transport Request Order (TRO) for door will be considered as the effective rate application date, matching the process currently followed for FMC lanes.
  • Previous Logic: Freight rates and surcharges were calculated based on the Proforma estimated date of departure.

Operational Rules & Transition

  • Gate-In Cutoff: Shipments gating-in on or after 1st September 2026 will follow the Cargo Receiving Date rule.
  • Pre-Effective Cargo: Shipments gated-in prior to 1st September 2026 will follow the existing proforma vessel departure date rule.

2. Shipments freighted based on “the first loading vessel’s Proforma ETD”

Applicable area:

  • Non-FMC regulated areas, excluding those specified in Section 1.

Note: Proforma ETD (estimated time of departure) will be determined based on an announced proforma schedule of the relevant vessel.

3. Exceptional cases for Non-FMC Regulated Shipments

To determine the applicable rate date, some locations will follow an Exceptional Location Rule that deviates from the Principle Rule.

For shipments originating from Taiwan & Thailand, the Mother Vessel ETD will be used as the first loading vessel's ETD, which is the vessel departing from Taiwan & Thailand.

Example:

  • TWKEL-(pre-carriage)-TWKHH-(Mother Vessel)-NLRTM = TWKHH ETD will be applied
  • THBKK-(pre-carriage)-THLCH-(Mother Vessel)-NLRTM = THLCH ETD will be applied

There are certain Exceptional Location Rules based on local circumstances.
