Subject: Mandatory Requirement for Consignee’s Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
on the Bill of Lading while submitting the Import Manifest to Tanzania.
We would like to bring to your immediate attention a mandatory requirement
regarding shipments to Tanzania, in accordance with local customs regulations. This
requirement pertains specifically to the Consignee’s details and is essential for the
smooth clearance of goods.

Mandatory Requirement:

• This requirement is effective from 20th January 2024.
• The Consignee’s Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) must be clearly stated in
  the Consignee Information section on the Bill of Lading (BL). This is necessary
  for proper manifest processing.
• POD and Final Place of delivery is Tanzania, Consignee’s Country is also
  Tanzania, then TIN number of Consignee is Mandatory.

Exceptions to this requirement are as follows:

• For consignments listed as “To Order,” Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) of the
  Notify party must be provided.
• For consignments to banks, Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) of the notify
  party must be provided.
• POD and Final Place of delivery is Tanzania, but Consignee’s Country is other than
  Tanzania, then TIN number of Consignee is not required.
